EXHORTATION
By Prophet Dr TB Bondera
Acts.4.36 – And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,
Acts.4.37 – having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
The mandate that the Lord Jesus Christ left for every believer is to ensure that we take the Gospel to all four corners of the globe. Each part of the Body of Christ has a part to play for this Great Commission to be fulfilled.
The sad part is that, at times, the forces that are fighting against the fulfilment of this Commission are not coming from outside the Body but from within the Body itself. The Holy Spirit may speak to a particular individual to undertake a certain step to push the work of God forward, but then we have other parts of the same Body discouraging the particular individual from doing what the Spirit would have instructed. Some words of discouragement can be direct whilst others may be subtle. One’s actions can be a tool of encouragement or a tool of discouragement.
Barnabas was a man who encouraged others to push the work of God through his words and his actions. Through his action of selling his piece of land and bringing all the proceeds to the House of God, Barnabas greatly encouraged other believers to support the work of God. Later, when he was sent to Antioch, the Bible tells us that he “encouraged” them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.” (Acts 11:24).
Today’s church needs more individuals like Barnabas, who encourage others through words and actions to support the work of God. Always consider your actions and words before you undertake them or say them out. Do they edify and exhort the Body of Christ or not?
TODAY’S MEDITATION
