THE ROOT

2Kgs.2.19 – Now the leaders of the town of Jericho visited Elisha. “We have a problem, my lord,” they told him. “This town is located in beautiful natural surroundings, as you can see. But the water is bad, and the land is unproductive.”
No matter how hard working the people of Jericho were, they could not reach their full capacity or achieve much prosperity because the water in the city was toxic, rendering the land barren.
What was needed for the land to be productive was for the water to be treated at the source. So long as the water remained toxic, the land would remain unproductive.
Some of the challenges we are encountering in our lives, have we ever checked the root cause? Are we not merely focusing on fixing the symptoms? Why are we experiencing so much barrenness, instability, stagnation, etc, in our lives. Is there not something we might be missing? No matter how much fertiliser or chemicals you may apply to the soil, so long as the water is not treated, the land will remain barren.
So long as our relationship with God is not fixed, everything else we may try to do will not bring any results. We need to revisit the source of our life and fix our problems from the root. Once the spring of water is treated, the land will become productive. Is it your marriage that is shaking? Or is it your health or business that is not well? Whatever form of barrenness you may be experiencing, do not waste time trying to fix the symptoms. Address the issue at its source: your relationship with God.

Deut.28.11 – And the LORD will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you.
