PRINCIPLES OF AN ALTAR: 1.

1Chr.21.18 – Therefore, the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David that David should go and erect an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Israel, specifically King David, had sinned against God by ordering a census to be done amongst the children of Israel. _”So the LORD sent a plague upon Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell” (1 Chr. 21:14).
David dressed in sackcloth prays to God, taking full responsibility for his actions and asks God to punish him alone and members of his household and not all the children of Israel. This is when God instructs David through the Seer Gad to build an altar for the atonement of his sin. This was the PURPOSE of the altar David built.
The most important thing when building an altar is to know its PURPOSE. This is the principle number one. In this month of April always keep it at the back of your mind that we are raising an altar for the PURPOSE of countering all evil altars in our lives.
