REMAIN STEADFAST

Job 2:10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
We have so many seasonal Christians in today’s church. These are believers who pray, come to church or worship God only when things are moving well in their lives. On the other hand we also have believers who only seek God when things are not moving well in their lives. The moment you see them being serious in the things of God, serving wholeheartedly in a department, coming on time to church or never missing a service, then be rest assured that there is something wrong that they want God to fix in their lives.
Many believers love of God is seasonal. Some of us when things are not well in our lives we let go of our integrity and we curse God as Job’s wife advised her husband to do. We are happy to receive from God the good things only and not the bad things.
I am talking to someone right now who has already planned not to come to church today or has not been coming to church for a while simply because God appears not to be answering their prayers. It is as if they are saying to God, “First fix A, B, C in my life for me to worship you”. Be careful of sinning against God because of temporal pressure. Why don’t you be like Job today and say to yourself, “I shall gladly receive both good and bad with thanksgiving in my heart so long as it is coming to my life either from God or with the approval of God”.
